Sahara Dance, Washington DC’s Center for Middle Eastern Dance, is a boutique dance studio dedicated to celebrating the joy and beauty of belly dance. Founded in 2004, Sahara Dance offers over 75 weekly belly dance classes at 5 locations in DC, MD and VA. The studio is home to 25 faculty members, 12 resident performance companies, and over 1,000 belly dancers.
Seeking to elevate belly dance as a performance art and to create a community for belly dancers, Sahara Dance produces several annual theater productions. Our shows and classes highlight both traditional and experimental styles of belly dance and Arab folk dance.
We dance to share in the transformative power of an ancient art form embracing femininity. Sahara Dance seeks to be your home for Middle Eastern dance. We hope you’ll join in the many community events we offer to share the dance, such as classes, workshops, salons, parties, and performances.
