Russian Chamber Art Society: Russian Bel Canto
We wish to welcome renowned tenor, Nils Neubert, to his first performance with the RCAS.  He will be joined by outstanding artists Julian Milkis, clarinet, Donald Shore, bassoon, and Vera Danchenko-Stern, piano.

The Bel Canto style of singing was developed in Italy.  It features an emphasis on tonal beauty and grace rather than dramatic power.  Glinka, an accomplished singer himself, continued the Bel Canto tradition and introduced it to other Russian composers.  The program will feature works by Glinka (including his famous Trio Pathetique originally written for clarinet, bassoon, and piano), Rimsky-Korsakov, Cui, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov.

Following the performance there will be a dessert reception to meet the artists featuring traditional Russian sweets.
